Callison Receives Burton Award for Legal Writing

DENVER (May 1, 2008) — J. William Callison, a partner at Faegre & Benson LLP, received a 2008 national award for legal writing from the Burton Awards for Legal Achievement. The awards ceremony will be held June 16 at the Library of Congress in Washington, D.C.

This marks the eighth consecutive year Faegre & Benson has received a Burton Award for exceptional and leading-edge legal writing. The 2008 award recognizes Bill’s article “Why a Fiduciary Duty Shift to Creditors of Insolvent Business Entities is Incorrect as a Matter of Theory and Practice.” The article appeared in the Journal of Business & Technology Law, vol. 1, no. 2, 2007.

Bill represents corporate clients in a wide range of matters, including entity formation, corporate finance, and corporate governance. Bill has served as an expert witness in matters involving corporate, partnership, limited partnership and limited liability company disputes. Bill’s affordable housing practice is national in scope and encompasses low-income housing tax credit syndications. He also has extensive experience implementing historic rehabilitation tax credits and New Markets Tax Credits.

The Burton Awards for Legal Achievement is a national program run in association with the Library of Congress and its Law Library.
