Our summer programs give you a hands-on, real-world look at who we are and what we do. You'll work with a variety of practice groups. You'll meet our lawyers and do real work for real clients. You'll get to know us — and we'll get to know you.
In recruiting for our Summer Program, we look for students with the potential to become both great lawyers and great additions to our team. That means not only outstanding academic performance, but also qualities like collegiality, innovation, strategic thinking, communication skills, maturity and entrepreneurship.
We hire carefully because we want you to have a successful practice at our firm. On average, about 90 percent of students accepted to our Summer Program receive offers to join the firm — and 90 percent of those receiving offers at the end of the summer decide to join us as associates.
We look to hire both the best candidates from law schools local to our U.S. offices and outstanding candidates from other leading schools across the country who are considering private practice in one of our cities. Our 2007 summer class includes students from Baylor, Boston College, Chicago, Colorado, Columbia, Cornell, Denver, Georgetown, Hamline, Harvard, Howard, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, Northwestern, NYU, Oregon, St. Thomas, Stanford, Virginia, Wake Forest, Washington & Lee, William Mitchell and Wisconsin. And our summer "alumni" consistently have high praise for the program.
In addition to challenging work that will let you experience what we do, we plan social and recreational events throughout the summer, including a wilderness excursion that brings summer associates from all of our U.S. offices together.
