We offer a dynamic and challenging work program for summer associates, focused on real work for real clients. Our goal is to give you a realistic understanding of what your professional life would be like as a Faegre & Benson lawyer.

We understand that you may not have selected an area of specialty, and we provide a diverse experience in order to help you evaluate different practice opportunities. Of course, if you have already identified a particular area of focus, you can also request assignments specific to those interests. You will work with lawyers in each group on client matters, attend group meetings, and function as a contributing member of that group.

We offer approximately ten internal practice groups (Microsoft Word document, 87k), divided half and half between litigation and transactional areas of practice. Although these groups make up our general internal structure, our lawyers primarily work together in practice development teams, which include lawyers from multiple practice groups who focus on specific legal issues, industries or clients.

Our lawyers take special care to give summer associates interesting and challenging projects and to introduce them to the daily demands of their practice. You'll be encouraged to attend closings, depositions, hearings, and client meetings. You'll have the opportunity to be involved in pro bono work, including the Volunteer Lawyers Network, where you'll have a chance to represent your own client. The entire program is up-close and hands-on.
